A music blog trying to make great music (both new & old) known to a larger audience, by posting daily tracks and news. All this from the perspective of a Dutch biology student. Enjoy.
Discovered this band today and I must say, this is amazing. It's a lightfooted, rock 'n roll track that is definitely growing on me. Love the backline-bass and the dream-poppy vocals. It's a rock 'n roll theme in disguise.
A genre I fell in love with during my time on high school. And.. this is one of the best approaches to it. For fans of: Pete and the Pirates, yes, a name out of the archives! This record is released soon and will be one the indie-releases to watch in April and definitely a band that could get some attention coming festival season.
Best song from the album. period. It's a good second by the way, but it does not meet up to its expectations. (Especially, since the first one is legendary in my eyes/ears).
Absolutely beautiful piece of modular synthesizer work. Bissonette is a new name for me, and i found out there is much more. While this is from his end-of-2015 release, his previous records have been received very positively as well. This should be a soundtrack for a movie, truly fascinating electronic track. Dream away people, dream away.
Without me even noticing it, Earth Mk. II is undebatably my favourite dutch garage/noise/new wave (that corner) band. And they have been releasing new material bit by bit for the last few weeks.
Check out their other videos as well, cause they include a compilation of hip girls wearing Nirvana shirts and an image of everyone's favourite Simpson's character while the lyrics go: Nobody really cares about you. Pretty hysterical if you ask me.
But the video with the most basic, yet psychedelic, background (maybe it's the future cover), holds the best track. What i'm actually saying is.... the material is getting to me... again.
It took a while, but everything remotely similar to Joy Division is to my liking. This is no exception. It is not remote from Joy Division either. Still, this band took a complete turn from their previous material, so be sure to check that out as well. This band is complete! Great track from a great record anyhows.
Got this in my mailbox today and I like it. Very subtle song by Heyward Howkins, with a honey-sweet voice. Somehow it has some sort of classic soul feeling to it. The sun is out on this sunday morning and this is great music to spend it with.
This has been doing particularly well on my channel, without any promotion yet. The soulful dreamy tracks on this record come in plenty and this is a highlight. Combine that sound with a raw voice, of someone who is not sure about the topic of conversation either, the track becomes an intriguing 5minutes. As so often in modern-day Indie music, melancholy to growing up, or just life in general plays an important part. Yet, so beautifully done and put into a guitar track, because that is what it comes down to, is very rare. YAST is a band I had never heard about before yesterday, but one I will not soon forget. Apparently they played Grasnapolsky festival near me, not long ago. Would've loved to be a witness to that.

This has been my travel music as of late. Relaxing in the airport-hall. By a lovely duo-bass, brass band. Well if that is not already special enough, I don't know what is.
Indie-Rock or the pop/synth variant genres are not about the riffs, or about the instruments, they are not even about the voice. They are about the feeling. Although the genre is about to die a boring death, there are some acts that show signs of giving me renewed hope. So that I, can again have a indie-rock phase.
One of those bands is BEARSKIN, and look at those views. This could use some support and they deserve it. Lovely tenderful song, that delivers a message and is not shy about it. The style is nothing new in this genre that is filled to the rafters. But this is a reminder of what was and what it could be. Think early Young the Giant, BBC, this is no less. A subtle song with no shame. Long time since I've heard that, since I've felt that. That's why it's number 370.
Came across this today. Poppy, with some nice guitar-work going on. A summer tune for sure, catchy as hell and interesting enough to keep listening to it for a while. Love it.
On the day of the eurovision event, which is a disgrace for music and culture in general, and a twitter Discussion concerning MIA's new African video, which is not going to get any broadcasting time, because... it's African, at least so she claims. And of course Miss Azaelia Banks is responding.
And then came this:
If the music industry allows an African artist to come through this year on intnl level, I would gladly give him this video for free.
Tyondai Braxton (previously Battles, great band!) is an artist I have followed a lot recently. Not known for his straightforward productions, hence Battles, this newest material is no surprise. Still it is a very interesting addition to his career. Building up the track from scratch and from new and original elements (the beach-drumbeat for example), this is what electronics is all about.
