Best song from the album. period. It's a good second by the way, but it does not meet up to its expectations. (Especially, since the first one is legendary in my eyes/ears).

It took a while, but everything remotely similar to Joy Division is to my liking. This is no exception. It is not remote from Joy Division either. Still, this band took a complete turn from their previous material, so be sure to check that out as well. This band is complete! Great track from a great record anyhows.

It's been a long time since I've blogged this actively, but the love for it will always resurface. And the biggest reason for that is the music itself. There are a lot of interesting things going on right now, there is a lot of music worth mentioning.
As is the case with The Soft Moon. The Soft Moon has always an intriguing outfit, discovering their neo-post-punk sound with ease, and taking us along for the ride.
Still, you can arguably state that The Soft Moon has yet again taken the next step in their music and a video to go along with it. With "Wasting" they show a sense of urgency, whilst believing patience in tracks is good. It gives the track an unprecedented atmosphere, even for a band that is already known for being able to create just that. And the vocals are totally creepy this time around.
The video (directed by Y2K) is a peculiar one. The main character (singer) gets injected with some kind of serum and then it starts. The track speeds up, strange images and colors flash the screen. artful images become clear on his face. The old man must be evil. It's a fascinating piece of work really. Could be the soundtrack to some terrifying sci-fi flick.
And it's my video of the week!
By the way added their self-titled 2010 album to the Full-LPs playlist on the youtube channel.
Enjoy!
Melancholy at its best, but in a new form. Protomartyr is a band excelling in chanting about things not right about society or people or life in general, putting it in a somewhat post-punky shell and find melodic harmony while doing so. For now I am left wondering how these guys have been off the radar with songs like this. Enjoy!

Another one of my recommendations from last year: Light up Gold, made in 2012, released in 2013 when PC moved to larger record label What's Your Rupture?
12. Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold, What's Your Rupture?, January 15th, Punkrock/Indie/Post-Punk
On their breakthrough record, Parquet Courts has shown to be the masters in fast, rough-edged punk songs, that are hilarious now and then, as only punk music can be. Where other bands forget to produce anthem-like songs, PC has a few, but most of all flagship Stoned and Starving is one hell of a ride. On the one hand they represent 90ies nostalgia, on the other this band represents the new generation of punk for the so-called 'Pitchfork-generation'.

Definitely anticipating on more to come from this band!

Sometimes when a band returns with new tracks, it feels so familiar that you have to like it, for me it is the case with Franz Ferdinand, and here they are after 4 years of absence. And their new single Right Action comes with a video, that you would expect from them. A little 70ies flavour, somehow a little sarcasm, a little overacting blended all together in a fun 3-minute experience. And with the lyrics present, tihs is becoming an instant sing-along just like Take Me Out, Do You Want To.
New album coming out soon.

This weekend in Amsterdam, Paradiso, there is one of the more interesting festivals of The Netherlands: London Calling.
So I found it fitting for the Video of The Week to be of an act featured there, and I have been quite impressed with one act, that I didn't know off for too long. 'The all-girl Joy Division' or Savages(let's not stick too much to comparisons) is one interesting post-punk band. And for some reason all-female bands are still uncommon, even though we had some good ones lately. (for example Warpaint)
So here as a little preview, a live version of City's Full by Savages
Hallucinating psychedelic music seems to be the bomb lately. As more and more bands are giving this style of music a go.
Clinic is no exception, but they still kept their own sound and made an interesting mix of genres. And this is what makes this one of the more interesting things I've come across on the internet. And, on top of that, makes me very excited about the new set of tracks that is going to hit the charts in november.
I can say about the video is that it fits the vibe of the song really well. All that rests me now is to say: Take this Windows Media Player.
