So here it
is again, an update on the best dutch indie acts I have come across in the last
few weeks/months. And I have found two incredible dutch acts, which in both
cases make tracks in long lost genres (in the Netherlands at least).
Postmodem
This band
makes rough, edgy rock somewhere in between shoegaze and grunge. As I said, not
at all common in The Netherlands. For tracks that are actually pretty lo-fi,
they are truly rock and roll. They debuted as a band live on Le Guess Who? Of last year and according
to an interview with 3voor12 (goo.gl/XAaAHE)
all the songs are just meant to express and transfer a feeling to the listener.
And that is exactly what they do, short (around 2 minutes mostly) rambling
songs full of raw unedited guitar work and solid drums of an unique level. If
you like Wavves, No Age, Slowdive for example, you should definitely check this
out.
Apparently
problems move away to make room for new ones:

Kleinindustrie
I’ve have
been very excited about this band for quite some time now, and for good reason,
while Postmodem gives us a dutch grunge-band, Kleinindustrie is a dutch pioneer
in the post-punk division(to be honest here: their songs range from close to
stoner to grunge and back. While their first tracks appeared over a year ago, and
a very promising start on their Dirt (She
Is) EP (and Hit it EP was not bad
either), and blowing off the roof on
their first few appearances, it has gotten a little bit quiet around this band.
We are unfortunately still waiting for their first full length release, but the
fact that they are touring right now, and that they are involved in several Poprondes, might be an indication that
the new tracks are finished and that the waiting is almost over. For now, there
is no way you can ignore the strength of some of the tracks that are already circulating
on the web. The dark (almost 80ies-like,
Joy Division-like) sound, with heavy
guitar riffs and intense vocals, makes you want to move and sit still at the
same time. While on Hit It, they
sound more grungy and somehow make me think of so many genres at once, that you
would think the fans are out there for the taking.
