Band of Horses is back, with a single from their upcoming album: Knock Knock, and it comes with a very nice video. The band performs in the desert of Utah, all for a parody on a old-fashioned nature documentary. The song definitely makes me psyched about the new album.
They'll be playing in Utrecht, the 6th of November.

It looked like it was going to be a rainy edition of Bergpop this year, but luckily for us the weather was nice, which made for a great setting to check out some promising acts. First one that stood out for me was Wooden Constructions, for which the festival's program stated it looked a lot like Joy Division. For me that is a reason to be sceptical, as I have never been to a gig, that really had a Joy Division feel to it. But as I saw mixed reactions amongst the crowd, I can say for myself that I have never seen a band that reminds me of Joy Division as much, as Wooden Constructions did yesterday night. The singer showing off some Ian Curtis moves did the trick as well. On top of this, and I have never heard anyone else mention this, some songs by the band, had a taste of Vampire Weekend, imagine those two together?
See for yourself, (They were on De Wereld Draait Door, a dutch TV-show.)
The festival's final act was Capeman, which had a more straightforward rock'n'roll sound, which triggered an (surprisingly) intense reaction amongst the crowd. This makes you wonder why they have been cruising in the background. Surely I will be on the lookout fo more from these guys, because while there were some technical problems the first few songs, they delivered a very solid performance.
Here a song they played yesterday:
Yeah they were a 3FM serious talent.
Finally I want to mention Mineral Beings, I heard some great comments on the performance in the Wageningen library, close to bergpop, earlier this year, and they were back now, so it was definitely worth checking out. Think The Knife, Austra and maybe even hints of Lykke Li. Listen to a track by them here:

be sure to be there next year!
A music video of one catchy track of the first album of Little Hurricane. This duo has had some significant succes in the US, and is jet another act that is trying to follow in the the footsteps of The White Stripes. And I can see and hear why the succes is present; the guitar and drums on this track are nice and easy to fall in love with. Let's just hope that none of that blood got on that lovely thunderbird.
